National Parks Week

Sunday 22th to Sunday 29th July 2018

Its National Parks Week next week, but you don'’t need to travel out of Leamington Spa to visit one of Britain top parks.

Jephson Gardens is a beautiful formal Victorian park in the centre of Leamington Spa and within easy walking distance from our Large & Tall Menswear retail shop. It's the perfect place for a relaxing stroll or family picnic with lots of colourful flowerbeds and interesting sculptures.

The gardens were first laid out in 1831 as informal riverside walks along the River Leam, the land was renamed Jephson Gardens in honour of Dr Henry Jephson, a famous doctor who had promoted the town as a spa and developed into formal gardens after 1846.

The award winning gardens, once a place for the wealthy to 'take the air' and 'be seen', are found in the centre of the town on the Parade, with the River Leam flowing to the south of them. Within the gardens are a Glasshouse with interesting tropical plants, goldfish pond and observation beehive, a Sensory Garden - taste garden with mirrored arch and colourful planting, an art studio, a beautiful Victorian tea pavilion, formal flowerbeds with colourful summer and winter bedding displays, sculptures, children play area and boating lake with ducks and geese.

The park has won many awards including Green Flag Award and Green Heritage Site Accreditation every year since 2006,  BALI National Landscape Award (for high horticultural standards and design in 2015 , Bees' Needs Award (one of 19 parks nationally for work to help pollinators) in 2016 and Special Award for Innovation in 2017.
